The History

Jersey Village traces its unique heritage back to the mid-1930s when Clark W. Henry established F&M Dairy, a sprawling 1,236-acre agricultural facility. The ranch gained international renown for raising award-winning, prize-winning Jersey cattle. In 1953, Henry partner up with developer LeRoy Kennedy to transition the vast dairy farmland into a master-planned residential neighborhood. Henry envisioned a peaceful community complete with its own dedicated school, park facilities, and a championship golf course built right into the landscape. To secure autonomous public safety services and prevent potential annexation by the city of Houston, local residents voted to officially incorporate as an independent city in April 1956. Jersey Village proudly preserves its rich historical farming roots and independent municipal borders to this day.
